Detroit-Style Nashville Hot Chicken Pizza

marcodonadeo

Say that ten times fast.

Here, we have a pizza that comes from three different US states. Alabama, Tennessee and Michigan. What a logistical nightmare (lol just kidding).... This pizza has a Detroit crust, a Nashville chicken and a Alabama white sauce. And together, it seriously is a match made in heaven.

This recipe was inspired by food content creator, Cooking with Cocktail Rings and can be found here: Nashville Hot Chicken Pizza - Cooking with Cocktail Rings

I've been going through a recent obsession with Detroit-Style pizza because of the fluffy, soft nature of the dough andddd because I hate stretching thin-crust pizza.... an absolute nightmare. Detroit-Style (in my modest opinion) is just soooooOOOOooo much easier to work with and shape. My go-to dough recipe is from Serious Eats here: Detroit-Style Pan Pizza Recipe (seriouseats.com). I've probably made this exact dough ten times, at least.

With regards to the Nashville Hot Chicken, definitely don't feel the need to make your own, especially if you're in a pinch. Frozen chicken strips thrown in the airfryer and tossed with Nashville sauce works just as well.... And you don't need to get rid of any excess frying oil.

Anyways, here is the recipe below!

Assembly: once the dough is ready, spread with Alabama white sauce, shredded cheese of your choice (I used mozza and cheddar mix), diced fried chicken, and even more white sauce. Throw it in the oven at the highest it will go (typically 500 F) and bake for 15 minutes.

Remove from oven and let cook slightly. Top with sliced pickles and julienned red onions.

Enjoy!!!!
